How to celebrate the holiday season during COVID-19 in five easy steps

Kickstarting an online store has not been easy, especially when a global pandemic put a year-long halt on all events and activities. However, I have faith that we will always find a way to celebrate festivities and occasions, no matter the scale or bandwidth. Nowadays, we are only a click away from being connected with our loved ones and COVID-19 has taught us to further push our limits with these virtual networks.

With the holiday season and new year just around the corner, I want to reach out to my clientele and I want to convey one simple message - Do not lose the holiday spirit, put on your best outfit, take those selfies and flaunt your glamorous look in front of your loved ones via Zoom! I know I will be living by this mantra because we truly deserve the holidays this year to be joyous and as festive as they can be. The pandemic has proven to be emotionally and physiologically taxing for many. Isolating and working long hours from home has caused some to feel rather lonely and low-spirited. However, we owe it to ourselves to reboot and find new ways to celebrate the coming of the new year. Here are some easy steps I will be following to celebrate the holidays, and I welcome you to join in:

Step 1: Shop locally or online for that perfect outfit!

Feel out the vibe you want to create this holiday season in your home. Are you looking for something glamorous, or a bit laid back with a punch of colour? Maybe, you and your family could rock matching outfits! The possibilities are endless.

Remember to shop online or locally. Not only is this a safe shopping practice and omits chances of contact with the virus, but also helps small businesses stay afloat during these tough economic times. Hence, this is essentially the most ethical and responsible way to shop during these times!

Step 2: DIY Photobooth

I know it might sound a bit out of your comfort zone but hear me out. Remember, you deserve a good celebration. This year has not been the greatest for many. If you followed Step 1 correctly, you already have a beautiful outfit on hand and social media networks are more engaged than ever. It’s the ideal time to take some Instagram-worthy pictures! Since you are likely not going to be engaging in gift-exchanges this year. Put the gift-wrapping paper to use by setting a backdrop on a plain wall. I recommend using Washi tape to secure the wallpaper without peeling off the wall paint. Secondly, get your hands on a small and affordable phone tripod and Voila! You are ready to go. For an added touch, you could look into making some small photo booth props with card stock paper and straws (might be a fun activity for the kids!)

Now, you are ready to set that phone on self-timer and click away. Remember to share those pictures on Instagram and tag us! (@priyakcollections)

Step 3: Cook a festive meal

This is self-explanatory. Cook an elaborate feast for yourself and your family. Food must always be a priority for celebrations. Savour the meal without any digital interruptions. Try to unplug for this bit if you can.

Step 4: Participate in an interactive, holiday-themed virtual gift exchange

Draw names beforehand, pick out the desired gifts from their wishlist and get them shipped directly to your Secret Santa recipient(s). Make sure to set that shipping date so you don’t ruin the surprise. You can then flaunt your gifts and play a bit of a guessing game on a virtual Zoom call.

Step 5: Strut your outfits in a virtual family and friends’ fashion show

Encourage your family and friends to join you in the fun by organizing a virtual fashion show. Appoint judges (or wear that hat yourself!) and encourage all participating members to strut a fashionable walk while enjoying some festive music! (Hint: I doubt that you wouldn’t win the best dressed title in a Priya K Collection outfit.)

and just like that, Happy Holidays from me to you on behalf of Priya K Collections.

I know I will be keeping the holiday spirit alive by following the above steps. Do this for yourself. It is the ultimate time to find ways to pamper yourself, embrace self-love and re-discover the meaning of celebrations and holidays. Maybe, we will all find a deeper connection to ourselves and people around us by adjusting to these new barriers.

I see this as an advantageous opportunity for us to get creative and spend some quality time with myself and my family. I can’t wait to flaunt my Priya K Collections outfit this holiday season. I hope you will give us a chance to adorn you for your special occasions as well.
